About the people behind YEO


Pascal Brown

Founder and CEO


Pascal is the ideas person behind this site. His vision for the site is to create a worldwide premier English language learning site that assists members to improve their English language skills so as to reach their employment and life goals in English speaking countries.

 

He has an M. A. (2001) in Applied Linguistics, an M.A. in Anthropology (1987), a Diploma in Education Technology (1997), a Diploma in Teaching (1985) and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (1980) and has ESL teaching experience in China, Western Samoa, New Zealand and Korea. In China he was a lecturer at Peking University (Beida) in Beijing.


He lectures every year at Peking University in China, publishes in academic journals and presents at conferences both in New Zealand and overseas.

 

His research interests are Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), English language training courses for migrants seeking employment and materials development for ESL students. At present he is a research associate of the ‘Language in the Workplace’ Project at Victoria University of Wellington (www.vuw.ac.nz/lals/lwp/index.html) and was the writer of the successful CD ROM ‘English for Employment’. This CD assists students to learn about English and gaining employment.

 

Nick Hansen

Webdesigner


Nick was the original designer of the site. Without his patience and assistance this site would never have been developed. He lives in Sydney, Australia and works full time with the internet.

 

Ben Hitchcock

Programmer


Ben was the original programmer for the site. Also without his assistance this site would never have been developed. He lives and works in Woolongong, Australia.

 

Laxman Paudel

Web Master and Developer


Laxman lives in Auckland, New Zealand but comes from Nepal where he was a government official. He has a Master of International Business and Administration. He has worked on the Nepalese Government Tourist Sites and has skills in ASP, HTML, Java, SQL, Oracle and MS Access. His skills in programming and website problem solving keep this site afloat now.
